Barbara Sonvilla

Barbara Sonvilla (MA) is an Austrian born Art Historian and Cultural Scientist. She had been living and working in different European countries as a lecturer at the University of Art and Design, Helsinki a.o. In her cross-disciplinary blended learning approach the focus has been on media art, humanities and contemporary art practices.

Barbara was the co-author History of the Visual Culture and Art History for the interdisciplinary e-learning MA Programme Intermediale Künstlerische Bildung at the University Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria. Her article “The Passion, the Eye and the Ear” was published in the journal Arts and Humanities in Higher Education 02/08.

Barbara received the AALTO Innovative Teaching Idea Award for course development and teaching of “Key Thinkers at the Intersections of Art, Science, Culture and Technology”, open to all Aalto Schools of Aalto University, Helsinki.

She has been a passionate Yoga meditation practitioner and Heartfulness Meditation Trainer for more than 15 years, and was recently engaged in building up an international Heartfulness Modular Training. In Bratislava she was the guest speaker at several Heartfulness Conferences in 2016 and has been conducting the “Woman in Balance with Meditation” workshops.

She cherishes her large family, the beauty of Creation, human excellence and diversity, the evolution of consciousness and a good laugh.
